Notgrass Exploring World Geography

Exploring World Geography from Notgrass History is a one-year high school course that describes and explains the world God created. Students will learn about mankind's interaction with the world both in the past and in the present. The curriculum addresses two main questions: How has the physical world made a difference in what people have done, how they have lived, and how they live today? How have people made a difference in the physical world, and how are they making a difference in it today?

Your high school student will gain a rich understanding of physical and human geography through reading the narrative lessons, studying the maps and completing map assignments, reading literature about people and places around the world, completing writing assignments and hands-on projects, and gaining a Biblical perspective on world religions and culture.

Exploring World Geography Part 2 covers the second semester only - Part 1 and the Gazetteer are sold-separately.

Each lesson includes the text for the student to read and the specific assignments for that day. Each weekly unit has an introduction that features a summary of the material c

Exploring World Geography Curriculum Package

Rounding out Notgrass' high school social studies is their longed-for World Geography course. It does not disappoint. There are two gorgeous, full-color Texts plus a unique book called the Gazetteer full of continental and regional maps plus some original source material. These three books make up the Curriculum Package. Carefully chosen literature selections(literature package coming soon!) add depth and perspective to the study. These are listed as the Required Resources. The course is rounded out by a selection of study materials in the Student Review Pack – Student Review Book, Quiz/Exam book, and Teacher Notes/Answer Key.

More impressive, though, than the quality of the course components, is the perspective. Two main questions form the foundation. "1. How has the physical world made a difference in what people have done, how they have lived, and how they live today? 2. How have people made a difference in the physical world and are they making a difference in it today?" Helping the student gain insight into answering these questions provides the "why" of this course.

This course focuses on cultures and people more than many other geography courses. The introductory material for the course states:

This course deals with two main questions: (1) How has the physical world made a difference in what people have done, how they have lived, and how they live today? (2) How have people made a difference in the physical world, and how are they making a difference in it today? (Exploring World Geography: Part 1, p. vii).

In answering those questions, the course shows the relevance of geography to both real-life and current events. The fiction and non-fiction books students read as part of the course also work to that end. For instance, as part of their study of the Middle East, students will read Blood Brothers by Elias Chacour. Blood Brothers tells about the creation of the
