Matte Leather Cleaner

Hi, I've had a quick search on this forum but couldn't locate much.

I've been looking for a suitable cleaner for my leather interior, it's matte so I'm worried that any cleaner will give it a slight polish. Can anyone advise anything??

Also, I found this on the meguiar's forum which worried me even more-

'I have used the Magic Eraser with success, but honestly I find APC to do just as good of a employment and not as messy. The only time you will dash into trouble when cleaning your leather is when you are doing very old and worn leather where the dye will start to come off. This, oddly enough, is only a problem on high end hides as the fibers are closer together, making it harder for the dyes to absorb in the production process. As a result, you will see BMWs, Mercedes, and such to possess the dye start to fade away, especially if ANY type of cleaner is used, regardless of how gentle. If this is the case, than just stop what you are doing, and inform the customer.'

My leather is not old or worn but im still worried further by this. Hope someone can help.

Many thanks in advance, Sam.

Tested Leather Cleaners

Testing Process

In our car leather cleaner test, we focused on each product’s foaming action and their cleaning strength.

Some leather cleaners foam out of the bottle. If they don’t then they will foam up while you are scrubbing them. We like to see a good amount of foam because it reassures us that the leather cleaner is working.

The more important factor of our test is the cleaning strength. All these leather cleaners are mild and are recommended to be diluted 1:5 to 1:20 (depending on the product). None of the products tested have been diluted. But keep in mind, when you dilute the leather cleaners, they will be less effective at cleaning leather and interior surfaces. That may be okay because your surfaces might not be quite dirty or they don̵

I'm also not afraid to go at shiny leather quite harshly in the early stages of clean , using a solution of swarfega & leather balm with a worn green fleece
Id say whatever you do is better than simply leaving them al

Best leather cleaners 2023

This is a perfectly effective cleaner, but it dries quickly so is prone to getting sticky and, if you don’t work it in swiftly enough, leaves some visible residue on the leather.

Get the application right and the results are good, with the leather feeling soft, clean and non-greasy to the touch.

Even so, Furniture Clinic leather cleaner is not as easy to apply as the best cleaners, nor quite as effective when it comes to getting marks and smears off the hide. It’s pricey, too.

5. Autoglym LC500 Leather Cleaner

Comes with applicator? No

The Autoglym cleaner is a ‘does what it says on the bottle’ kind of product. It freshens up leather or leatherette trims, and it has a really nice leather smell that’s not too strong.

It’s not as good at working out really tough stains as some others here, but it still returns good results as long as it’s not a really heavily damaged and dirty leather upholstery.

At this price, it’s a solid all-rounder.
