Bando stone and the new world movie review
Hi, everyone. Band Stonetano here, the internet's busiest music nerd. It's time for a review of this new Childish Gambino album, Bando Stone and the New World.
Yes, here we have a brand new album from rapper, songwriter, singer, actor, director, producer, Mr. Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino. This will be his fifth and final album under the Gambino name, as Glover seems to be continuing and revamping his music career but wants to do it under a different moniker, maybe his own name. Either way, he seems to be retiring the somewhat tongue-in-cheek Gambino thing that helped put him on the map in the first place.
This record, important to note, also serves as the soundtrack for an upcoming film of the same name, starring Glover. Not a lot is yet known about the movie outside of a few cast members, and that synopsis-wise, I guess it's a survival film with an apocalyptic setting, and Glover plays a singer of all things in this scenario. There are little tidbits of all of this peppered throughout the album in the intros and outros to these tracks, arriving in the form of these vocal snippets performed by the actors in the film. And while none of this gives a full pictu
Bando Stone & The New World: Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know About The Upcoming Childish Gambino Movie
Although Donald Glover will sadly not be returning for Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 2, there is still one upcoming project from the multi-talented performer to look forward to. Glover's rap artist alter ego, Childish Gambino, released his final album in 2024, Bando Stone & the New World. The record kicked off the rapper’s 2024 New World Tour, and was met with high acclaim. Glover had previously stated that the record was a soundtrack that would accompany a film of the same name, and a trailer for Bando Stone & the New World was released on YouTube in July 2024.
It's been about 10 months since the trailer came out, with very little news since. Some diehard fans have wondered where the movie is that Glover promised, with some speculating that the Bando Stone movie doesn’t actually exist — which, admittedly, would be in line with the enigmatic rapper's mysterious persona. Conspiracy theories aside for the moment, let’s just assume that Bando Stone is a real movie that will presumably be released for public consumption, and look at what we know about
Childish Gambino: Bando Stone and the New World review – a frenetic farewell
The actor and player Donald Glover has had a frantic few years. Starring in this year’s Amazon series remake of Mr & Mrs Smith, as well as writing a Star Wars spinoff film and voicing Simba in the live-action Lion King, his musical plan as Childish Gambino has taken a backseat. Now returning with his sixth album, Bando Stone & The New World, Glover has said it will be his last before retiring the Gambino alter ego.
Soundtracking an accompanying film of the same identify, Bando Stone traverses everything from trap to guitar-strumming pop-punk and jazz across its 17 tracks, producing a sprawling, confounding operate. Opening with the hammering synth lines of Kanye West Yeezus-era ripoff Hearts Were Meant to Fly, the pastiches continue with the soulful melodies of Withstand , which sounds like Flower Boy-era Tyler, the Creator, and Delighted Survival, featuring Khruangbin, which sounds entirely like a mellow composition of their own making.
Glover fares better on his own terms, as on the sultry funk of In the Night, the R&B balladry of Steps Beach and the Latin jazz jam of No Excuses, b
Childish Gambino – Bando Stone and the New World Review
Childish Gambino can do no wrong. At least, that is what his die-hard fans would have us believe. Donald Glover is an artistic weapon and is spiralling out of fashion. Bando Stone and The New World is a fascinating project more for the man behind it than the context of its release. With the weight of touring on his shoulders and the alleged farewell reception set to be received later this year, it is hard to argue against the relevance of these final instalments. But capping your career and ending it are two different things, as LCD Soundsystem showed after five years out. Bando Stone and The New World is by no means a bad album to go out on – if Gambino is set to do so – but it does leave much room for growth in a constantly evolving, at times interesting sound.
His sounds of liberation in the under-hated and overmedicated world feel cut straight from the average Twitter feed. Lithonia has an exceptional tenderness to it through its instrumental function, but its lyrical components are nothing more than the anti-bile stance seen as common sense. That it may be, but exploring it further is necessary. Bando S Donald Glover is undeniably one of the most talented — or at the very least ambitious — artists of his era. The multi-hyphenate has made a name for himself in every medium he's pursued, whether TV, movies or music, garnering acclaim in every field. As much as Glover has done, his output as Childish Gambino is likely the most definitive work of his career, rivalled only by his FX series Atlanta. With his latest record, Bando Stone & the New World, Glover is seeking to retire the Childish Gambino character with his most musically diverse outing to date, one that also serves as the soundtrack to this upcoming, self-directed and self-starring film of the same name — because of course he is. With the film still unreleased, Bando Stone exists in a weird space. It's the soundtrack to a movie we haven't yet seen, and as a result, the listening experience can be a bit jarring. The album will swing from genre to genre without context outside the smattering of dialogue sprinkled between tracks. Additionally, there are moments here where it's clear that Glover is performing from the POV of a
